What is a redirect chain?
A redirect chain occurs when a URL redirects to another URL, which may redirect again. Each hop is a "link" in the chain. Chains slow down page loading and can hurt SEO.
How many redirects are too many?
Ideally, keep redirects to 1 hop maximum. Chains of 3+ redirects can cause issues with search engine crawling and page speed.
What is the difference between 301 and 302 redirects?
301 is a permanent redirect that passes full link equity. 302 is temporary and may not pass link equity. Use 301 for permanent URL changes.
