THE PROJECT

A historic institution.
A website built to explore.

Founded in 1885, the American Society for Psychical Research studies consciousness and reported psychic phenomena. Its website needs to introduce that history while giving visitors a practical way to explore the Society’s work.

We designed and built a site that connects those different journeys: learning about the organization, browsing historical publications, watching research talks, and trying its interactive ESP test.

The visual design pairs large serif typography and archival imagery with an atmospheric homepage. Clear navigation keeps the research, events, articles, and publications within reach.

THE PUBLICATION LIBRARY

A collection visitors
can actually navigate.

The historical publications section gives the archive its own browsing experience. Visitors can narrow records by collection and type, change the sort order, and switch between list and grid views.

THE SAME WEBSITE. A SMALLER SCREEN.

MORE THAN A HOMEPAGE

Built around what
visitors come to do.

Read and research

Historical publications, researcher profiles, and recorded lectures give visitors several ways into the Society’s work.

Take part

The site connects visitors to the ESP test and a dedicated experience-reporting page, alongside information about events.

Explore on any screen

The layout adapts for phones and desktops, with readable content and navigation that fits the available space. Light and dark themes offer another way to choose the viewing experience.
