THE PROJECT

Cannabis delivery,
told as a route.

The Delivered Inc is a licensed, delivery-only cannabis company based in Clinton, Massachusetts. There is no storefront: adults 21 and over order from a live online menu, and the company’s own drivers bring orders to homes across Central Massachusetts, checking ID at the door.

The new site had to replace an older WordPress site without breaking the addresses of its blog archive and pages, put the practical facts where people look for them (hours, the same-day cutoff, delivery windows, per-town minimums and the 21+ rule) and send shoppers straight to the live menu.

DESIGN STRATEGY

Waybills, stamps
and a dashed route line.

The site leads with the delivery itself. We built the visual language from dispatch and postal paperwork: waybills, parcel tags, rubber stamps, perforated edges, a split-flap departure board and a dashed route line, set on warm paper tones with deep green night sections.

On the homepage, a pin follows the route line through four chapters as the visitor scrolls: the order, the pack, the drive and the door. A van runs a hand-drawn Massachusetts loop, the departure board counts down to the day’s cutoff and a town or ZIP checker answers whether delivery reaches you. Every animation has a still version for reduced motion.

TYPOGRAPHY

Besley headings, Newsreader body text and Archivo labels, for a printed, letterpress feel.

COLOR

Warm paper tones, pin and trail greens, press ink and a cancellation red.

MOTION

A pin that travels the route, a van on a Massachusetts loop and a split-flap departure board.

HOW IT’S BUILT

Prerendered pages,
with the menu on the same domain.

We built the site with Next.js 15, React 19 and TypeScript, styled with Tailwind CSS and hosted on AWS Amplify behind CloudFront. Most pages are prerendered and cached at the edge, server actions handle the contact form and town requests through Amazon SES, and the animation libraries load only where they’re needed.

The live menu stays on the client’s ordering platform but is served at /menu/ on the client’s own domain, so its addresses, cart and checkout stay on thedeliveredinc.com.

SEARCH, BUILT IN

Twenty-three towns.
Every old address kept.

The new site had to replace WordPress without losing what it had built in search, and give each town it delivers to a page of its own.

We moved the WordPress blog archive into the new site at its original addresses and added permanent redirects from old page addresses to their new homes.

Each of the 23 towns in the delivery area has its own page, with its ZIP codes, order minimum, local delivery notes, local questions and links to nearby towns.

Every page has a self-referencing canonical tag and structured data: business details site-wide, a Service entry and breadcrumbs on each town page, and BlogPosting on articles.

The sitemap is generated from the site’s own town, blog and archive data, robots.txt welcomes search and AI crawlers, and an llms.txt file summarises the business, service area and key pages.

The menu, category and effect pages are plain HTML with links into the live menu, rather than an embedded frame that search engines wouldn’t read as part of the page.

The 21+ age gate sits over the page rather than replacing it, so the full content stays in the HTML for crawlers.
